The Next Generation Series is often referred to as the Mother & Baby Series as well. This is a result of the design focus for the series. Each design in the collection depicts an adult creature with its newborn. The creatures depicted here represent the Australian continent and its diverse native wildlife. The kangaroo is the most famous native resident.

On the obverse of 2023 Australian Mother & Baby Kangaroo Silver Coins, you will find a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The final appearance of Her Late Majesty on Perth Mint coins, this design shows the Queen in right-profile relief wearing the George IV State Diadem with memorial dates of 1952-2022 to honor her reign.
